Simple Math

So, my husband called out to me, "Hey? You got a minute? It's for a math problem." This happens on a fairly regular basis. His co-workers will ask for math help for their kids sometimes. I was expecting something algebraic or higher. I picked up a notepad and called back, "Lay it on me."

And he says this: 6-1x0+2/2

Seriously. And I'm all, "Uh... you need my help with that?"

Then he tells me this is some kinda problem that's been running around the internet for ages and it wound up on the Facebook page he and a bunch of his co-workers use to talk to each other outside work. Maybe you've all seen it before, but it was new to me.

My husband says, "I didn't think I needed your help, but I'm not getting the same answer as everyone else."

Me: ???

Him: "They're all saying it's 5. That's not right, is it?"

*face palm*

Now I understand why so many of them come to him/me with questions about their kids' math homework. I let my husband explain to them where they went wrong. This has apparently garnered a lot of, "Boy, do I feel stupid now!" comments, especially from the poor guy who told the first two people to post the answer "5" that they're "so smart." LOL. Meanwhile, I looked it up and the number of people who are insisting the answer is 5 is rather alarming to me - especially those who say so after it has been explained to them step-by-step.

Halloween Spirit

It's so much easier to decorate a website than a house for the holidays. Hee. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get into the garage and pull out our Halloween decorations. Heck, I haven't even shifted the house from summer to fall (with tables linens and blankets on the sofas and such) yet. I think it's because it's still so hot here during the day.
